Privacy policy

This site belongs to Hometex Peru, a home-textile factory based in Arequipa, Peru. We sell to businesses only. This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to the information you send us here.

1. What we collect

If you write to us through the contact form, we collect the name, company, work email address, country and message you type into it. We ask for nothing else, and no field is optional theatre. We use all of them to answer you properly.

Alongside that, our systems record the country your connection appears to come from, the page you were on when you wrote, and the advertising campaign or referring site that brought you here, if any. We use this to understand which of our pages and campaigns are useful. Our own systems do not store your IP address.

If you download a catalogue, we record which catalogue, when, the country of the connection and the campaign, never who you are. Our catalogues are open and ask for no form.

2. Why we hold it, and on what basis

We hold it to reply to your enquiry, to quote, and to keep a record of our commercial conversations. Where the GDPR applies, our basis is our legitimate interest in responding to a business enquiry you initiated, and the steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.

We do not sell your data, and we do not add you to a marketing list because you wrote to us once. We do not hand what you write to us to advertisers. What the measurement and advertising tools described in section 5 receive is set out there.

3. The automatic first reply

When you write to us you receive an immediate acknowledgement. That first reply is generated automatically, using an AI model that may only draw on a fixed set of information we have approved in advance: it cannot invent product data, quote prices or make commitments. Every enquiry is then read by a person, who replies properly. We tell you this because you deserve to know when you are reading a machine.

4. Who else processes it

• Airtable (United States): stores the enquiry and sends our internal notification.
• Vercel (United States): hosts this site and serves the pages.
• Google Workspace: our email.

These transfers to the United States rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. Each of these three companies processes the data on our instructions and for no purpose of their own. The measurement tools in section 5 are different, and are described separately.

5. Cookies and measurement

We use Google Tag Manager to run a small number of measurement and advertising tools:

• Google Analytics 4: counts visits and which pages are read.
• Google Ads: tells us whether a visit that came from one of our ads ended in an enquiry.
• Microsoft Advertising: the same, for ads shown on Bing.
• Microsoft Clarity: records anonymised replays and heatmaps of how a page is used (clicks, scrolling, pointer movement), so we can see where a page confuses people. It does not identify you personally.

These tools receive from your browser your IP address, your device and browser details and the pages you view, and Google and Microsoft process that under their own privacy terms. When you send the contact form, the only thing passed to them is that an enquiry happened, with the country you typed, never your name, email address or message.

If you are in the EU, the UK or Switzerland, none of these tools sets anything or sends anything until you press Accept in the banner. Elsewhere, they run by default and you can turn them off at any time from the banner or from “Cookie settings” in the footer. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal and do not ask.

Separately from those tools, we store one small item in your browser to remember which campaign brought you here, so that a later enquiry can be attributed correctly. It is only stored if measurement is on, lasts only as long as your browsing session and is removed when you close the tab.

6. How long we keep it

Enquiries that lead to a commercial relationship are kept for as long as that relationship lasts and for the period our tax obligations in Peru require afterwards. Enquiries that go nowhere are deleted after three years. Catalogue download records, which identify nobody, are kept for two years. What Google and Microsoft hold from the measurement tools in section 5 is kept under their own retention settings.

7. Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, restrict what we do with it, receive it in a portable format, or object to us holding it at all. Write to hello@hometex-peru.com and we will act within thirty days. You do not need to give a reason, and asking will not affect how we treat you as a customer.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom and you think we have handled your data badly, you may complain to your national data protection authority. We would rather you told us first.

8. Changes

If we change this policy we will change the date at the top. We will not quietly broaden what we do with data already given to us under an earlier version.
